I know things have been quiet around here, but things have been crazy at the Hollowell house. We just moved to the hood. For you Raleigh Peeps, we are near Jones and Tarborro - the location of the majority of the arrests in 2008 for prostitution.
There are a lot of reasons we have decided to move to an economically depressed area, many of which I will probably talk about over the next few months. If you boil it all down, however, I guess you could say it involves our desire to learn how to be a neighbor. I will talk more about that later, and about how seeking peace and justice for the poor, from among the poor, is working out.
For now, I hope you will pray for us, if you are that sort of person. We are overwhelmed with boxes, packing paper and an utter and complete lack of rest. The kitchen and bathroom are unpacked and functioning, but the rest of the place feels like we are camping. I hate camping.
One thing we are very excited about is the small backyard that comes with the place, where we will have room for a few raised beds to plant some greens and vegtables - for our table and to share with our friends. I love the newly renovated kitchen with counterspace and a dishwasher - neither of which I had at the old place. (Truthfully, I appreciate the counterspace, while Renee is more into the dishwasher). And, this place has a second bedroom which Renee is turning into her art studio, while also keeping a second bed so we can be hospitable to our friends who are visiting.
So that is why I have been largely silent here, and why it will probably be a while before I start posting again.
Thanks for all the love and prayers.
